“these would make great cat toys!”

When I’m at craft shows I sometimes find folks perplexed about what to do with my squids.  So they give me suggestions like using them as pin cushions or as cat toys (these suggestions are always for my regular size squids with accessories.  I’m a little sad when people want to take something that I’ve worked on for so long to either poke holes in or have a cat rip it to shreds).  The only product I make that I wouldn’t mind this about are my mini squids.  My cat found out that they make great companions when he knocked the lid off my mini squid box while we were away.  I came back to find a squid of every color strewn across the house.  Some were unharmed but the others were given to Ico since I couldn’t bare to just throw them away.  They’ve become his little buddies that he takes with him while traveling around the apartment (along with his sheep).  He brings them to dinner, to my husband or I as a sign of love and to bed.  He has a backstock that is hiding around the apartment so when one wears out he can go and find his replacement which is usually after I’ve already given him a new one (hence the backstock).

The only odd thing about this whole deal is that when I suggest that you can use my mini squids as cat toys customers usually think I’m nuts.  I guess only squids carrying sushi or library books should be used for that.

Cool Artist Opportunity

The organizers are seeking female-identified artists who are interested in showing and/or trading their artwork with other female artists. This will take place during the Indicator Species Puppet Show. There will also be live music from Leslie Addis and Evil Twin and spoken word by Cole Lea. This event is created to celebrate female artists of all kinds! If you’re interested in exhibiting and trading your art please participate. Bring your art to Chatham’s Rea Coffeehouse either on Wednesday, February 20th, from 6-8 or on Friday, February 22nd from 4 on. It doesnt cost anything to participate. The show will be on Friday, the 22nd at Rea (in the basement of Chatham University’s Rea residence hall).

I am passing this information along - it came from a friend. If you know some artists who might be interested, feel free to circulate amongst yourselves!

montage.JPG

the pendant measures approximately 1 1/2 inches (3.8 cm) tall and 3/4 inch (1.9 cm) wide.
please note that this pendant does not comes with a cord and chain.
LzRocks! wirewraps are hand-coiled and never use solder or glue. the wire is tarnish resistant and is widely regarded as the finest quality wire produced for the jewelry making industry.

when asked where inspiration comes from, lz had this to say:

i’ve been addicted to crafting for as long as i can remember, but it was just about a year ago that i started trying to sell the things i created. i started working with wire because i am very anxious and fidgeting with wire calms me down.
when working with wire and gemstones, i pay close attention to patterns and imperfections in the stones and try to highlight the stone’s best features. i am inspired by ‘lower quality’ and flawed stones and organic lines and shapes.

contest ends on thursday, december 20th at midnight ET. leave a comment on this post to enter.
